Emirates: check-in options

In today's post from our informative series explaining the check-in options of various carriers, we will have a look at Emirates.
This rapidly expanding Dubai-based airline is known for a high standard of services and has won numerous awards.
Emirates – online check-in
The easiest and quickest way of checking in with Emirates is web check-in. It is available from 24 hours to 90 minutes prior to the flight departure. All you have to do is to press «check-in online» and enter your last name and booking reference. Then you can print your boarding card and choose your seat.
Bear in mind that the web check-in is not available for code-share flights which are not operated by Emirates. It is not available on every single airport either. On the official website of the carrier you can find a full overview of the airports of departure where Emirates offer online check-in. Among them are Airport Dubai, Airport Frankfurt, Airport New York, London Heathrow or London Gatwick.
Mobile check-in
You can also check in while on the move. Simply go to emirates.com in your mobile browser. Once you checked in, follow the link in the email or SMS you will receive. When at the airport keep your mobile at hand!
Again, mobile boarding passes are available at some airports only so make
sure your airport of departure is among them.
Check-in at the aiport
On some airports, such as Airport Dubai, you can avail yourself of self-service kiosks. There one can both check in and print one's boarding card.
Remember, if you are going to check in baggage, you have to arrive at the airport no later than 90 minutes before the scheduled departure time. Whereas if you travel with hand baggage only, be there at least 60 minutes before the departure.
