easyJet - what happens if your baggage is too large?
easyJet is a low-cost carrier which doesn’t include baggage fees in its flight ticket prices. Passengers have to pay extra charges for it. Find out all the essential information about baggage charges at the airport!
easyJet has two types of cabin baggage. The first type is so called guaranteed baggage with dimensions of 50×40×20cm which you can always take on board. The second type is slightly larger, 56×45×25cm, and on some busy flights it may be taken into the hold. However, passengers are not charged for this. If you travel with the larger type of the cabin baggage, you can avoid taking it into the hold by arriving to the gate early.
What happens when your cabin bag is larger than the maximum allowed size? You will pay £25 / €30 for it at the bag drop desk and £40 / €50 at the boarding gate. The same fees apply when you want to check-in a bag that you haven’t paid for before. The maximum weight of your bag should be no more than 20 kg. Also, be aware of fees per excess weight of your suitcases. In case the weight of your baggage exceeds 20 kg, you will be charged £11 / €14 per each excessive kilogram at the airport.
Prices for checked baggage and excessive weight are cheaper online so try to plan the amount of baggage in advance and save your money.
