World Travel Awards presented in London
On Sunday, November 7th the travel industry leaders were awarded. The Grand Final 2010 ceremony of the World Travel Awards took place at Grosvenor House hotel in London.
This year, the prizes were given to those leading the global travel and tourism recovery. Among the brands that have demonstrated the greatest strength during the economic crisis are American Express, Kuoni, InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Europcar an finally the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority.
The World's Leading Destination award goes to London this year. The excitement ahead of the 2012 Olympics is building up with 27 million tourists visiting London this year. Competing cities New York, Cape Town, Rio de Janeiro and Sydney were all beaten.
The airline that has showed a meteoric rise has won the World's Leading Airline award for the second year in succession. Etihad Airways, the flag carrier of the United Arab Emirates, has played a key role in airline industry resurgence.
About the World Travel Awards
Since 1993 these awards are to acknowledge the excellence in the world's travel and tourism industry. These awards are regarded as the highest achievement for any travel product. The Wall Street Journal nicknamed them The Oscars of the Travel Industry.
